Who are we representing, and where?

Use the owner's name as it appears on the appraisal notice. That is the name that goes on the Appointment of Agent form.

More than one property? List them all — different counties are fine. Large portfolio? Email a spreadsheet to info@fortresstax.com.

We will email your agreement and Appointment of Agent form for e-signature within 1 business day. The agreement sets our fee at 30% of the tax savings; there is no fee if there is no reduction.

What happens next

Three steps

1

Two documents land in your inbox

The Fortress Tax Defense agreement, sent for electronic signature, and the Appointment of Agent for Property Tax Matters (Comptroller Form 50-162). Both are signed online in a few minutes.

2

We file with the appraisal district

The signed appointment lets our attorneys protest in your name. The attorney handling your case is one of the owners of Fortress Tax Defense, and you will know their name from day one. We pull the district's evidence, build ours, and file before the deadline.

3

Hearing, and court if it takes that

We argue the protest at the Appraisal Review Board and, if we believe there are still possible savings, file in district court under the same fee arrangement — no fee unless we win.

What you are signing

Two documents, plainly

Agreement

The Fortress Tax Defense agreement

Our fee is a share of what we save you, at the protest or in court. No reduction, no fee. Everything else is in plain English on the agreement itself.

Form 50-162

Appointment of Agent

The state-promulgated form every appraisal district requires before anyone can act for an owner. It names Fortress Tax Defense as your agent for property tax matters and nothing else. You can revoke it at any time.

Questions owners ask

Straight answers

Who handles my protest?

Licensed Texas attorneys. Your case is prepared and argued by an attorney, not a call center or a form-filler. When you call or email Fortress Tax Defense, you reach one of the owners of the firm, the attorney who will personally handle your case.

What does it cost?

Our fee is 30% of the tax savings we win for you, at the protest or in court. If there is no reduction, there is no invoice. That has been the arrangement every season since 2020.

What happens after the Appraisal Review Board hearing?

If we believe there are still possible savings after the Appraisal Review Board protest, we can file in district court under the same fee arrangement. Most firms stop at the hearing. We don’t.

Which counties do you cover?

Every county in Texas, all 254 of them.

What types of property do you protest?

Residential, residential portfolios, multi-family, commercial, office, industrial, land, ranch, and business personal property (BPP).

I own several properties. Do I need a separate agreement for each?

No. One Appointment of Agent per property and one agreement cover the lot, in every county you own in. Fortress Tax Defense files in every county, argues every hearing, and takes the ones worth taking to district court.

How do I sign up?

Give us your details and your properties. We email you the Fortress Tax Defense agreement to sign electronically, together with the Appointment of Agent form, the State of Texas form that names Fortress Tax Defense as your agent for the protest. Sign both from your phone and our attorneys handle everything that follows.

Where can I see your results?

On this site. Each result shows the appraisal district’s notice value, the value after our protest, the value after litigation where a case went to court, and the reduction, county by county across Texas.
